Nursery in progress

Over the holiday weekend, David and I spent alot of time getting Austin's room ready.  We received the window valances, window seat cushion, pillows, and bed skirt in the mail last week.  My mom's friend, Jane, in Houston made them and shipped them to us.  We spent time on Saturday and Sunday hanging the shades, valances and AUSTIN letters.  Actually, I should say that David did, and I handed him things like a tape measure, pencil, nails, and hammer when he needed them.  He did a great job!  I love the way it turned out and I am sure Austin will too (ha, like he will know his name is hung straight on the wall).  Many thanks to my mom and Jane for helping pick out the fabrics, type of shades, etc!  I found the Peter Rabbit prints above the daybed on Amazon.com for $6 each and then bought frames at Michaels for $8 each....not bad!  Here are some pictures from the occasion.

 Uh oh

That's better!

It is still not completely finished as I want to find something to hang on the wall above the changing table...possibly the Peter Rabbit quilt from PBK or a mirror.  I also ordered a crib mobile that plays Twinkle Twinkle little star, but it is on backorder until August 6.  We might get a small rocking chair to put in the room somewhere since we don't have room for a big glider.  We opted to leave the daybed in the room since we don't have anywhere else to put it in our house (except folded up/stored away).  I am sure I will end up sleeping in the daybed especially at the beginning so it will be nice to have in his room.  Now we just need a baby to go in the room!

God of Miracles

Last Thursday we found out some wonderful news.  Our friend, Brandon, who was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer last November, received clear scans and is CANCER FREE after 6 months of intense chemo.  On Friday night, about 30 friends got together to celebrate this miracle.  You can read more about his and his wife's (Christina) journey through this here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brandonhayslip

The party was at Adam and Rachel's house and was such an awesome celebration of God's faithfulness and ability to do anything. He is truly a God of miracles!

Unfortunately I did not take many pictures at the party.  Rachel insisted getting a picture with me and my baby bump.  It's a pretty funny picture.

66 days til Longhorn football season

And Austin is ready to be their biggest fan, thanks to my friend Michelle.

34 week appointment

Today we had our 34-week appointment.  They did an ultrasound to measure my fluid levels and they had increased!  That is good news, and I don't even have to go again next week.  My next appointment will be at 36 weeks and then every week after that until the end.  I can't believe Austin will be here in less than 6 weeks...crazy!  I had not gained any weight since my appointment 2 weeks ago, but my doctor said that was okay because Austin is still growing.  His heart rate was right on target.  The ultrasound tech took a 4-D shot of him even though his head is so low and somewhat hidden behind my pelvic bone.  His position made it hard to get a good picture.  It is not the most flattering photo.  His face looks like it is smashed up against a window.  He has his hand up next to his cheek.  We joked that his nose looks like my sister's nose (the Hendrix nose) because it looks like it is on the wider side (don't take offense, Lauren).  I can't wait to meet the little guy!

Showered in Denver

Last Sunday June 26 some wonderful friends here in Denver gave a baby shower for us.  It was perfect!  Rachel hosted at her house (and Adam kindly took care of baby Brody for a couple of hours).  There was delicious food: pimento cheese sandwiches, asparagus rolls, chicken salad, cucumber/cream cheese bites, yummy fruit salad, and an excellent cake from Mulberries cake shop.  We played "can't say the B-word" and "pin the baby on mommy".  Austin received a lot of fun things!  Pippa gave us a trendy outfit: skinny, distressed jeans and a blue/red plaid button down shirt from Baby GAP...precious!  The hostesses gave us the bumbo chair and humidifier.  Jamie and Jen gave us the activity gym and Christy gave us an elephant piggy bank from Tiffany's (better keep this out of reach once Austin is mobile!).  I am grateful for all of the friends who were able to come and of course thankful for all of the fun new things for Austin.  We are blessed.
